My
wife, Heather,, and I were both born and raised in Florida
and have been married 9 years. We have 2 boys, a 2 year old
and an infant. Before kids I used to read a lot, try to play
drums, spend time with my wife, wrestle alligators, yodel,
run the official A-Team fan club, taxidermy small woodland
creatures, impersonate Munch from the Goonies, make custom
fit aluminum foil hats, and collect moist towelettes from
around the world. Now that we have kids, I’m just happy
when I can get a nap.
I recall
as a child, probably 8 or 9 years old, that my pastor prayed
for me and called me a “little pastor.” I never
much thought about it, but I still remember it. It took God
a long time to bring me around to that calling. I grew up
convinced that I would be a veterinarian, but customer service
isn’t my gift. I tried working at the medical examiner’s
office as an autopsy technician, but the conversation was
one-sided. When I finally got around to going back to college,
I was interested in medical research. After I completed my
degree in micro and molecular biology (real useful for youth
work) we moved to Virginia so that I could work in a lab at
the University of Virginia. During the 5 yrs. that I worked
there, I became involved with youth ministry at the church
we attended. I ended up becoming the volunteer youth pastor
for about 3 yrs. and was eventually called out of research
and into full time ministry. I am currently working on a bachelor’s
degree in Biblical Studies to better equip myself to do what
God has asked me to do - disciple and train the next generation
to be spiritually mature, dedicated followers of Him.
